Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our construction services, planning permission, building regulations and how we work.
What areas does D-Core Construction Ltd cover?
We work across West London and the surrounding areas, including Harrow, Northolt, Ealing, Wembley, Ruislip, Uxbridge, Hillingdon, Pinner, Stanmore, Edgware, and Watford, as well as Greenford, Sudbury, Kenton, Rayners Lane, Eastcote, Ickenham, Hayes, West Drayton, Bushey, Rickmansworth, Croxley Green, Wealdstone, and Harefield. If you are not sure whether we cover your location, contact us and we will confirm.
What services does D-Core Construction Ltd offer?
We offer house extensions, loft conversions, home renovations, kitchen extensions, refurbishments, structural alterations, RSJ (steel beam) installation, garage conversions, and general builder services. If your project does not fit neatly into one of these categories, contact us to discuss it — we are happy to take a look.
How do I get a quote?
Contact us via the enquiry form on this site or call us directly. We will arrange a visit to your property — we do not quote from photographs alone, as a site visit is the only reliable way to give you a realistic, accurate figure. All initial quotes are free and carry no obligation.
Do I need planning permission for my project?
It depends on the type and scale of the work. Many extensions, loft conversions, and garage conversions fall within Permitted Development rights and do not need a full planning application, but this varies by property type, location, and the specific work involved. We can advise on the likely planning position for your project during our initial visit, and we are happy to coordinate with architects if formal drawings are required.
Do I need building regulations approval?
Building regulations approval is required for most structural and significant building work — including extensions, loft conversions, garage conversions, and structural alterations — regardless of whether planning permission is needed. We manage building regulations as a standard part of our project scope, not as an add-on.
Will D-Core Construction Ltd manage the project or will I need to coordinate different trades?
We manage the construction project and coordinate the trades involved so that you have a single point of contact throughout. If the project requires an architect, structural engineer, or specialist trade, we work with them directly and keep you informed rather than asking you to manage those relationships separately.
What happens if unexpected problems are found once work starts?
Older properties in West London sometimes reveal hidden issues — damp, undiscovered structural problems, outdated wiring, and so on — once building work begins. We notify you as soon as anything unexpected surfaces, explain the options, and agree on how to proceed before doing anything additional. We do not carry out additional work without your knowledge and agreement.
Do you work on period properties?
Yes — much of our work is on Victorian, Edwardian, and 1930s properties across West London. We are familiar with the structural characteristics of these building types and with the issues that are common in older homes, including solid-wall construction, chimney breast configurations, and aging fabric.
Can D-Core Construction Ltd work alongside my architect or structural engineer?
Yes — where a project requires architectural or engineering input, we are happy to work from drawings and calculations provided by your chosen professionals. We can also coordinate with a structural engineer on your behalf if required.
